Sunburnt 5ociety was a group project I was assigned while taking a class under Kurt Clayton, a legendary Memphis producer and artist. I was in charge of handling the instrumentation, recording, and mixing. The friends in my group were in charge of things like vocals, certain guitar parts, cover art, and the official release to streaming platforms. I am very proud of what we accomplished, as were awarded an A+ as well as first place in the class.
Pit in my Stomach is a song written by the amazing Haley Mosenteen and is featured on her debut album. This is a demo we recorded after collaborating on the Sunburnt 5ociety project.
“I Think I Lost My Headache” is a song written by Queens of the Stone Age, which I decided to cover. I opted for close mic techniques on drums and guitar cabinets, which work well in giving me that direct and punchy sound.
This is a demo I recorded trying to emulate a super rowdy and hard metal sound. On this track I focused on creating a cohesive and huge sound while still keeping it tight.
“EZ2GO” is a track I created back when I first started recording in my bonus room with acoustic drums. I was going for an “older” sound with only two mics on the drums, and incorporating old school mixing techniques.
